The Ancient Technologies Art Research Institute (a-t-a-r-i) is fully dedicated to the preservation of the Atari 2600 console and all of its 3rd party hard- and software, merchandise, promotional items, internal documents ... whatever documents this legendary milestone of videogaming!

A-t-a-r-i believes that we all have a responsibility to protect our historic console and all related items. They are a valuable resource, helping us understand the past while enriching the quality of our lives and the character of our community. The members of A-t-a-r-i invite you to join us in preserving our past for generations to come.

Goals of the Ancient Technologies Art Research Institute include:

  • To invite the participation of collectors in the preservation of the Atari 2600 heritage.
  • To advocate for the renovation and preservation of historic consoles, hardware and related items.
  • To seek purposeful and advantageous alternatives to the use of ebay.
  • To aspire to new, productive uses for historic hardware in order to provide for their maintenance and preservation.
  • To cooperate with local and state officials in making preservation and adaptive reuse official policy.
  • To work closely with organizations as Atariage.com & Atarimania.com and individuals to realize the goals of the organization.

Some of the organizations activities include:

  • Buying shitloads of atari item related to the 2600 console.
  • Assist in buying and collecting.
  • Generate publicity about preservation.
  • organise exhibitions.
  • Actively support efforts to keep the atarimania database up to date.
  • Discuss preservation issues with the City Council, County Board, Mayor, Planning Commission, Unicameral, and neighborhood associations.
  • Maintain this web site dedicated to preservation.
